FAQ

What does my merch cost?

The unit price depends on the product and cut, fabric, quantity, decoration type and size, number of print colors, label, and optional extras. All prices are net, excluding VAT and shipping. If you need a rough first estimate: in the configurator you'll see a price indication for each configuration as soon as you've chosen quantity and product. That's meant as guidance — the binding price is the quote we send you afterward.

How do I specify colors?

Via Pantone TCX, the fan deck for textiles. For fabric colors we require TCX. For print and embroidery colors we also prefer TCX, since those tones are measured on fabric and are closer to the final result than the paper values from the C fan deck; a Pantone C value works too, though. Screen colors (HEX/RGB) can be converted, but not without loss — a screen emits light, textile doesn't. If the exact shade matters to you, we'll match it using a physical fan deck or a pre-production sample. For socks, we compare your color value against the available yarn range and tell you the best match.

What happens after I submit my request?

We get back to you with a quote or follow-up questions. After that: clarifying vector artwork and Pantone values, an order sheet with mockup, quantities, size breakdown and decoration details, your approval, invoice, production, delivery.

Is the configurator available in English too?

Yes, via the language selector in the top right.

What do I need an account for?

To find your saved designs again and speed up the request process, since your details are already on file.

Can I show my design to someone?

Yes, via the share icon in the top right. You get a link to exactly this configuration that you can pass on to colleagues.

Can I save my configuration?

Yes, via Save for later. To do that you create an account — you enter your email address and receive a login link. You don't need a password.

I need the goods earlier than stated.

On the request overview there's a field for that: "Need earlier delivery?". Use it and tell us your desired date — we'll then check whether a production slot is available. The earlier we know a firm date, the more realistic the confirmation.

Why do I only see the price after entering my contact details?

Because we want to send you a solid quote along with the price, not just a number without context — in almost all cases your selection needs a brief technical check before it's accurate. You need first name, last name and email; company and phone are optional. The newsletter is voluntary and not a requirement.

Is the price net or gross?

Net, i.e. excluding VAT. Shipping costs are also not included. Using the toggle you can see either the unit price or the total price.

Why does the price drop when I order more?

Because the setup for an order — screens, embroidery program, machine setup, dye batch — happens once regardless of how many pieces come out of it. The larger the quantity, the more pieces that effort is spread across. The tool shows you how many pieces are left to reach the next price tier, and also tells you when you've reached the cheapest tier. If you're weighing between two quantities, have both calculated.

Where does the preset quantity come from — and what's the actual minimum order quantity?

The preset is a typical order quantity, not a minimum — use Adjust to change the total quantity and its breakdown. Our actual minimums are lower:- From 30 pieces for most of our bestsellers, with limited design options. - From 50 pieces per design and color for free design. - From 100 pairs for socks, per design and size increment. If your quantity is below the preset, just change it and send the request anyway — we'll calculate it for you.

I'm designing socks — why does my design look different than expected?

Because socks aren't printed, they're knitted. Your design is built from yarn, stitch by stitch. That means: no gradients, no fine details, and lines running diagonal to the knit grid become stepped. The configurator preview shows your design flat — how it will actually look knitted is something we clarify together in the quote and, if needed, via a sample.

Why can't I place my design in certain spots?

Printing across seams isn't possible. Designs up to the seam or inner labels under the collar are possible, but they have to be printed onto the fabric pieces before they're sewn together — we plan that into the order, the tool doesn't show it.

Why do I only see certain colors for a product?

The palette shows the colors available for the selected fabric. It's largest for socks, since that's where the available yarn colors are offered. If you need your exact brand color, that's possible via a custom dyeing — with a one-time flat fee and a higher minimum quantity. Ask about that in your request instead of looking for it in the tool.

What views are available?

It varies by product: textiles and socks show Front, Back, Left and Right; caps additionally show Inside; shoes show Outside, Top, Inside and Back. You can design each view individually — however, each additional decoration position is its own cost item with its own setup.

What's behind "Details"?

The extras available for that specific product. Examples:- Hoodie: trims, inside hood design, label, sleeve color, kangaroo pocket in a different color. - Socks: cuff color, toe color, heel color. - Cap: brim color, eyelet color. Each detail you activate is an additional customization and can affect the price and minimum quantity.

How is the editor structured?

Three tabs on the left, plus a button to switch products:- Overview — fabric/material, product color and designs. Most of it happens here. - Style — the cut within the product category, filterable by Bestseller, All, Unisex and Women's. - Details — the product-dependent extras as toggles. On the right you see the product, and below it the available views. Go back a step via the undo icon in the top right.

I've saved my brand color as a hex code. Is that enough?

For the preview, yes — for production, not quite. We define binding colors via Pantone TCX, the fan deck for textiles. Screen colors can be converted, but not without loss. If the exact shade matters to you, give us the TCX value, or we'll match it via a fan deck or a pre-production sample.

Is my uploaded design good enough for production?

No — and this is the most important point in the whole tool. The image here is for visualization. For production we need your design as a vector file (PDF, AI, SVG or EPS) with vectorized fonts. A PNG or JPG can't be translated into screens or an embroidery program. If you don't have vector artwork, let us know — we can create it for an additional fee.

What happens in the 3-step start?

The first time you open a product, a short intro walks you through three steps:- Upload artwork — one or more designs as PNG, JPEG, WEBP or SVG, max 4 MB. You'll then get suggestions for how they can be placed on the product. - Set your colors — save your brand colors as hex codes for quick access in the editor. - Choose a template — a ready-made design template as a starting point, which you then customize. You can skip step 1 with "Skip" and add your artwork later in the editor.

What do the codes on the product cards mean?

That's our internal cut number, for example KR1228 for the Unisex Hoodie Oversized or TS03 for the Tennis Sock. It uniquely identifies the cut — useful when talking to us about a specific model or reordering later. Feel free to mention it in your request.

How do I find the right product?

On the homepage you can narrow it down three ways: by For (Women, Men, Unisex), by Products (T-shirts, Longsleeves, Tank Tops & Crop Tops, Hoodies, Sweaters, Zip Jackets, Sweatpants, Sweatshorts, Polos & Shirts, Caps, Beanies, Socks, Bags, Shoes), and via search.

Can I order directly?

You can submit a request. Even via "Order now" we check your configuration and send you an order sheet for approval — only your approval on that makes it a binding order. Nothing happens in production before that.

Is the price in the configurator binding?

No. The price is an indication based on your selection. It can differ from the final quote, because the quote includes things the tool can't know: the exact size and position of your decoration, the number of print colors, special colors, labels, packaging and shipping. If you see one number in the configurator and a different one in the quote, that's not an error — it's the difference between an estimate and a fully calculated, finished product. The written quote or order sheet is always the binding one.

What can I do in the configurator?

You choose a product, fabric and color, upload your artwork, place it, and see the result from multiple sides. At the end you see a unit price for your quantity and send us a request from there.

Do you also build a shop for my merch?

In individual cases, yes — a dedicated online shop through which your merch is sold and we handle fulfillment. Ask if that's relevant for you.

Something's not right — what now?

Get in touch with your contact person with photos and the affected quantity. We check it against the approved order sheet and sort out re-production, credit note, or replacement.

Can I reorder?

Yes, and usually cheaper than the first order, because screens and embroidery programs already exist. How fast it goes depends on the fabric: if the color is in stock, it can be much faster than a new order; if it needs to be re-dyed, the full lead time applies again, including the minimum quantity for special colors.

Why did I receive more or fewer pieces than ordered?

With production straight from the thread, industry-standard over- or under-deliveries are normal — fabric rolls, dye batches and cutting never come out exactly even. We don't factor this into the price upfront: extra quantities are delivered and billed via a separate overproduction invoice. For shortfalls we credit the difference — we check every delivery against the ordered quantity and get in touch if it deviates.

What information do you need from me?

For the quote: product, quantity, and a rough design idea. For production, additionally: vector artwork, Pantone TCX values for fabric, print and embroidery colors, the size breakdown, billing and delivery address, and your VAT ID.

Why 100% prepayment?

Because every piece is a custom-made item with your logo that we can't resell. We commit to material purchasing and a production slot for you before anything exists.

What exactly is the order sheet?

Your binding order overview and our production instructions in one document. Please check it carefully: quantities, size breakdown, colors, decoration positions and sizes. The mockup in it is for illustration and not to scale — the binding measurement is the size given in centimeters, not the image.

How does an order work?

- Request — via the configurator, the contact form, or by email. - Coordination — clarifying products, quantity, size breakdown, design and decoration. This is usually where samples come in. - Quote — based on the final quantity and decoration. - Data — we need vector artwork, Pantone TCX values, billing and delivery address, and your VAT ID. - Order sheet — the official order document with mockup, quantities, size breakdown, decoration details and terms & conditions. This goes to you for approval. - Invoice & payment — standard is 100% prepayment. - Production — starts after approval and receipt of payment. - Delivery — sorted by type in labeled boxes.

How long does sample shipping take?

Viewing samples ship from Linz as soon as the requested pieces are available in the showroom. Produced approval samples need the production lead time and extend the overall delivery time.

And a sample with my own design?

That's different from a viewing sample: for a printed or embroidered approval sample, screens or an embroidery program have to be made first. That's why it's chargeable if no order follows afterward. Whether and how it's credited toward an order that does come about, we clarify in the quote. For multi-color screen-print designs, a proof is especially involved, because a separate screen has to be set up for each color.

Can I get samples in advance?

Yes. Within Austria and Germany we send sample packages for free, on loan — you get to see the cut, fabric quality and workmanship, then send the pieces back. Just tell us which cuts and sizes you're interested in.

How can I pay?

Standard is 100% prepayment by bank transfer. Credit card or PayPal are also available on request.

Is there a discount on reorders?

Yes. For reorders of the same design we usually grant a discount, because screens, embroidery programs and prep work already exist.

How long is a quote valid?

Price estimates are valid for one month. After that we re-check fabric and production prices.

What costs are added to the unit price?

Less than you might think. Setup costs for screens, embroidery programs and machine setup are already included in the unit price — they don't show up as a separate line item with us. What can be added:- Flat fees for custom dyeing. - Design work, if we do the design. - Woven labels, custom hangtags or packaging. - Shipping. - A possible overproduction surcharge.

Does it get cheaper if I order more?

Yes, significantly. The setup for an order — screens, embroidery program, machine setup — happens once, regardless of how many pieces come out of it. The larger the quantity, the more pieces that effort is spread across. If you're weighing between two quantities, we're happy to calculate both tiers for you.

Do you deliver to Switzerland?

Yes. For that we prepare a customs declaration and include an invoice. For sample shipments to Switzerland we sell the samples instead of lending them — that simplifies customs handling.

What does shipping cost?

Shipping is billed separately and depends on weight and destination country. As a rough guide: one box holds around 100 T-shirts or around 25 hoodies; the flat rate per box is in the single-digit euro range within Austria and noticeably more to Germany. For an exact figure, give us the quantity and delivery address.

How does the merchandise get to me?

By default via parcel service, packed by type in labeled boxes stating the product and sizes included. Depending on the order and deadline, the goods go via our office in Linz or straight from production to you. Custom box labeling, for example with barcodes for your warehouse, is possible after coordination. Pickup in Linz is also an option.

Do you have a company shutdown?

Yes. Our production in Portugal has a three-week summer break starting mid-August. If you want delivery before the break, you should order by early July. During that period, delivery times extend accordingly.

When does the delivery time start counting?

From two things at once: your approval of the order sheet and receipt of payment. As long as either is missing, the order doesn't go into production.

How long does an order take?

As a planning guide: 6 to 8 weeks from order sheet approval and receipt of payment. There's variation both ways:- Individual standard cuts in stock colors: shorter. - Socks: typically a bit shorter than textiles. - Custom dyeing, custom packaging, woven labels and physical approval samples: longer. If you have a firm date — event, trade fair, anniversary — tell us right in your first message. We'll then check whether a production slot is available before we commit.

Can I mix multiple colors or designs?

Yes, but each design-and-color combination counts as its own line item with its own minimum quantity. For socks, each size increment also counts separately — and if the left and right sock look different, that counts as two designs.

Why are there minimum order quantities at all?

Because an order takes up a knitting, dyeing or sewing batch and needs preparation — making screens, setting up an embroidery program, setting up machines. That effort happens once, regardless of whether 20 or 200 pieces come out of it. Below a certain quantity, it's out of proportion to the product. That's why the minimums exist — and why they're lower for products from stock than for production straight from the thread.

Can it also work with less?

Often, yes — just tell us what you have in mind. It's most feasible if:- you stick to one of our bestsellers and work with fabrics and colors we have in stock,. - you're reordering an already-produced design,. - the matching fabric is in stock with us. Conversely, the minimum quantity increases for custom dyeing and for extra items like woven labels that are made separately.

What's the minimum order quantity?

That depends on the product and on how freely you want to design:- From 30 pieces works for most of our bestsellers — with limited design options, because we use fabrics and colors we have in stock for that. - From 50 pieces per design and color, full design freedom is possible, i.e. production straight from the thread with free choice of fabric and color. - Socks: from 100 pairs per design and size increment. You can split the sizes freely within the order, usually in increments of 5 and with at least 5 pieces per size.

What does it cost if you do the design?

We bill design work based on effort: a base package for design ideas including two rounds of revisions, then per additional round after that. If you supply finished vector artwork, there's no charge at all.

Can I get my own label and hangtag?

Yes. By default, products come with our Das Merch hangtag; your own hangtags, neck labels, care labels and woven loop labels are possible for an extra charge. Woven labels have their own, higher minimum quantity and their own lead time — so decide on those early.

What should I keep in mind for my design?

A few things we've learned from production:- Very fine lines and small text can blur in digital printing. - Tone-on-tone embroidery is barely visible on black fabric. - White on yellow is hard to read. - On socks, lines running diagonal to the knit grid become stepped — straight and diagonal 45-degree lines work better. - Large-area embroidery on stretchy material like a beanie makes the embroidered spot inelastic.

Are there spots where printing isn't possible?

Yes. Printing across seams isn't possible. Designs that reach up to or across the seam, and inner labels under the collar, have to be printed onto the individual fabric pieces before they're sewn together. That's possible, but it has to be planned in from the start, since it changes the order of production steps.

Is my design printed the same size on every size?

In screen printing, yes — the same screen is used from XXS to 3XL. The design is the same size on all sizes and looks proportionally larger on smaller sizes. If you don't want that, tell us early: staggered design sizes are possible, but require additional screens.

What format do I need my artwork in?

As a vector file: PDF, AI, SVG or EPS. All fonts need to be vectorized, or you include the font files. A PNG or JPG is fine for an initial visualization, but not for production — screens or an embroidery program can't be made from those.

Which decoration method suits my design?

As a rule of thumb:- Logo with clean flat colors, medium to large run → screen printing. Our first recommendation for most merch projects: rich colors, clean edges, lasts the longest. - Gradients, many colors, photo-like designs, small run → digital printing. - Small, simple logo meant to last a very long time → embroidery. - An element meant to stand out and be touchable → patch. Whether that looks better than print is a matter of taste; production-wise it's the most involved route. - Socks → knitted-in — for that we need a design that can be translated into stitches. Just tell us what you're planning — we'll tell you what fits best technically, and we'll flag it if we see a problem with a design.

What decoration methods are available?

For textiles and bags:- Screen printing — 1 to 8 colors, opaque and with a good hand-feel on the fabric. The most durable and cleanest print method we offer, and for medium to large quantities also the most economical. More colors means more effort. - Digital printing — unlimited colors and gradients, fine detail up to photo quality, softer hand-feel than screen printing. Ideal for small quantities and complex designs. - Embroidery — thread texture with a subtle 3D effect, very durable. Ideal for logos, limited with fine detail and gradients. - Patch — a pre-made element (embroidered, woven or PVC) that's sewn or ironed on. Different look than print or embroidery, with a noticeable edge. Note: longer lead time and an extra production step — if the look doesn't specifically call for a patch, screen printing or embroidery gets you there faster and more easily. Product-specific:- Caps: DTF transfer printing (vivid colors even on dark fabric), embroidery, patch. - Beanies: embroidery and patch. - Socks: knitted-in — the design is knitted in directly, no printing and no embroidery. Colors and patterns come from the yarn, which survives every wash. - Shoes: transfer printing, embroidery, laser engraving (burned-in design with no color, leather only) and embossing (relief-like impression, usually without color).

Why is the minimum quantity higher for custom colors?

Because the fabric is dyed specifically for you, and a dye batch has a minimum size. The minimum quantity ensures the dyed batch actually gets used — otherwise fabric would be left over that no one uses.

Can I get products in my exact brand color?

Yes. Two ways:- From our color palette — the cheapest and fastest option, with the normal minimum quantity. For many brand colors you'll find a very close match here. - Custom dyeing to your color value — the fabric is dyed specifically for you. This costs a one-time flat fee and has a higher minimum quantity, because an entire dye batch is run for you. If a recipe for your shade already exists with us, it's cheaper than a completely new color. For every custom dyeing you get a lab dip beforehand — a color sample on the actual fabric — and you approve it before production starts.

What materials are available for the shoes?

Three options:- LWG Gold leather — from a tannery with LWG Gold certification, the highest rating from the Leather Working Group for environmental management, water use and chemical use. - Vegetable-tanned leather — using natural tannins from bark, leaves and fruit instead of chromium. Firmer to the touch, with warm color depth. - AppleSkin™ apple leather — a vegan leather alternative made from apple pomace from the Italian juice industry, combined with polyurethane and polyester, made in Italy. Plus organic canvas for heavy-wear areas and a recycled cork sole.

What is lyocell?

A fiber made from wood cellulose, produced in a closed-loop process — the solvent is almost entirely recovered and reused. In fabric, lyocell gives a silky hand-feel, cooling comfort and a more fluid drape than pure cotton. We work almost exclusively with Tencel™ by Lenzing, i.e. lyocell from Austrian production with traceable wood sourcing.

What does g/m² mean for fabric?

Grams per square meter — the fabric weight. The higher the value, the heavier, denser and sturdier the fabric feels. 180 g/m² is a light summer T-shirt, 240 g/m² a rich heavy tee, 340 g/m² a solid hoodie, 470 g/m² a very heavy winter hoodie.

What fabrics do you use?

Our base fabrics at a glance:- Organic jersey (100% organic cotton, 180 g/m²) — finely knitted, soft, the classic T-shirt fabric. - Organic double jersey (100% organic cotton, 240 g/m²) — two-layer, more body and opacity, doesn't show through. - Lyocell organic jersey (67% lyocell / 33% organic cotton, 180 g/m²) — silky hand-feel, cooling, beautiful drape. - Organic fleece (100% organic cotton, brushed, 340 g/m²) — the classic hoodie fabric, cozy on the inside. - Organic French terry (100% organic cotton, unbrushed, 340 g/m²) — same fabric, smooth back, lighter feel. - Organic fleece heavyweight (100% organic cotton, brushed, 470 g/m²) — our heaviest sweat fabric. - Lyocell organic fleece (61% lyocell / 39% organic cotton, brushed, 420 g/m²) — softer drape at the same warmth. - Organic piqué (100% organic cotton, 230 g/m²) and lyocell organic piqué (67% lyocell, 200 g/m²) — for polos. - Recycled polyester (100% rPET) — our sportswear fabric: lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking. We're just launching sportswear and starting out with recycled polyester across the board there. - Organic canvas (100% organic cotton) — for bags and caps. - Organic sock yarn stretch (80% organic cotton / 15% polyamide / 5% elastane). - Organic knit yarn (100% organic cotton) — for beanies.

What cuts are available?

Several cuts per product category, each with its own number (e.g. KR1228). Roughly, we distinguish:- Oversized — very loose, dropped shoulder seam, heavy weight. - Relaxed fit — comfortable width, normal shoulder seam. - Standard and long-cut — classic, or with extra length. For socks there are three size clusters (35–38, 39–42, 43–46), for beanies the Classic and Hipster cuts.

Do you sell branded goods like Nike or Adidas?

No. We only produce your own product — we don't print on other brands and we don't buy in finished retail goods. What we keep in stock are our own bestsellers from our own production, so smaller quantities and shorter timelines are possible.

What's in your range?

T-shirts, longsleeves, tank tops & crop tops, hoodies, sweaters, zip jackets, sweatpants and shorts, polos & shirts, caps, beanies, socks, bags and shoes. Sportswear is being added right now. Plus extra items like woven labels, hangtags, sock packaging and gift boxes.

Can I get documentation for sustainability reporting?

Yes. We provide material and production details per item on request. Just tell us what form you need them in — a material data sheet, supply chain information, or the fabric supplier's certificate.

Are your products GOTS certified?

Partially, and we're working on it. Specifically:- Certified are raw material, weaving, dyeing, printing and washing — we only print at GOTS-certified printers. - Not currently certified are two production steps: cutting and sewing. We're currently reviewing our own GOTS certification (as of 09/2026). The catch: a fully end-to-end certification would mean excluding long-standing, reliable partner workshops — especially very small operations, for which certification costs are out of proportion to their size. Exactly the workshops we've worked well and fairly with for years. So we're looking for a solution that works for everyone involved, rather than putting the seal above the partnerships. For documentation on specific materials, just ask directly.

What does "sustainably produced" mean for you?

We'd rather give you concrete facts than umbrella terms. Here they are:- All textiles are produced in the EU, most of them with our partner in Fafe, Portugal. - More than 95% of our orders come from sources we've checked for working conditions. - We only print at GOTS-certified printers. Which production steps beyond that are certified is covered in the GOTS question below. - Materials: organic cotton, lyocell (Tencel™ by Lenzing) and recycled polyester. What each fabric contains is listed on every product. - Mostly made-to-order rather than from stock — we produce straight from the thread. We now keep some of our bestsellers in stock, so smaller quantities and shorter timelines are possible. What you deliberately won't find with us: blanket claims like "climate-neutral" or "eco-friendly". Terms like that say very little, and since the EU directive on environmental claims they're only allowed with solid supporting evidence anyway. We'd rather state what we can actually back up.

Where do you produce?

Exclusively in the EU. Most of our textiles are made with our long-standing production partner in Fafe, Portugal; socks and shoes with further EU partner workshops. Quality control and packaging happen at the production site. From there, goods go to you either via our office in Linz or — depending on the order and deadline — directly from production.

What shipping options are available to me?

We offer various shipping options, from standard to express. Depending on your location and how urgent your order is, we can arrange custom shipping solutions for you. Delivery to multiple locations is also possible.

How can I get personalized samples of our products?

For orders of 500+ pieces, we create a chargeable sample on request after the order is placed. For smaller orders, we can send you a package with various customer projects. Just scroll all the way down and click "Order sample" to choose your package.

What does sustainable production mean at Das Merch.?

Sustainability is at the core of our brand. We use materials from ethically responsible sources almost exclusively (more than 95% of all orders) and work with production partners committed to environmentally friendly practices. Alongside sustainable fabrics, all textiles are produced in the EU. We have a personal relationship with our production partners and employ a sewing workshop with around 10 employees in Fafe, Portugal. We also only work with GOTS-certified printers. If you'd like to learn more, check out the "Sustainability" tab at the top.

Can I reorder my merchandise identically even after a long time?

Since we manufacture the products ourselves and don't rely on blanks from other brands, we can still produce your desired product even many years later. If a material or accessory should ever become unavailable at one of our production partners for any reason, our team in Portugal will work with you to find an individual solution.

What design options are available at Das Merch.?

Feel free to try out our configurator to see how your design looks best on the various products. If you have specific questions, though, feel free to contact our team with your request.

How can I get a quote for my merchandise?

The fastest way is of course our configurator. It has live pricing built in, so you see how the price changes with every design change. If you need a written quote, please contact us via the contact form.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQs)?

Our minimum order quantities start at 50 pieces per design. That means you can order a T-shirt or hoodie in different sizes, but in total you need to buy 50 pieces of the same T-shirt in the same color with the same design. For socks, we have a minimum of 100 pairs per size range (e.g. 39-42 or 43-46). Best take a look at our configurator — it shows you exactly what your design will cost in production.

How long does it typically take for my order to be delivered?

Delivery times vary depending on product type and order quantity. Some products, like T-shirts and hoodies in our standard colors, can be delivered in about 4 weeks, but you should generally always plan for 8 weeks. For a specific time estimate for your order, please contact our customer service.
